The author gave me the book to review.
I didn’t want to read this book at first. Part One ended on a cliffhanger which I hate, but the author apologized and said that Amazon really likes when authors publish a lot or Amazon doesn’t play nice. Stupid Amazon.
Man, oh, man, am I glad I read this book though. Lady Jane turned into quite the spitfire. I wasn’t really sure she was cut out for the “pet” position in the first book and now we know why. I won’t spoil the book but she is intelligent and kind and sympathetic. She really takes Lord Adrian down a few pegs. He is so pompous and arrogant in Part One but she totally dresses him down in Part Two, both literally and figuratively. She was quite nicer than I would have been given the situations he put her in.
Jane Smythe is so much different in this book versus book one. She takes control of Adrian and humanizes herself to him. She also managed to make him face his own humanity. I was a little put off that he changed so quickly but as we learn more of his thoughts I got the impression that even he didn’t believe half the things he said or did. I wasn’t the least bit surprised that his wife had decided not to come back to London. I would have liked to know more about her though. She seems like a woman who knows what she wants in her chauvinistic world.
Overall this is a great duet. Part Two is not as racy as Part One. There are some sexy parts and I can only assume Lord Adrian keeps the tongue ring for Lady Jane. Wink Wink!
