Having read His Lordship's Downfall, I thought I knew what to expect but I was wrong. Lucius was like Adrian yet different. They are both rich arrogant men who are used to getting what they want but Lucius is more in touch with his emotions and less deviant. Natalia is nothing like Jane, although they both pretend to be demure and innocent. The cat and mouse of Lucius and Natalia is so fun. If he had been a lesser man she might have conned him entirely. I was surprised it took him so long to figure out she wasn't there for the auction. It seemed obvious to me from the get go she had other plans, even if they weren't told to us immediately. It was also obvious that he was going to take her for his own. They felt right together, for me anyways, from the beginning. I was in love with Lucius from the first time we meet him. I know he's supposedly bad or the Devil but I like bad men. Natalia made me mad with her impulsiveness. She worked so hard to get there and then was so eager to ruin it all. The whole idea of a virgin auction infuriates me but I'm sure it's a thing somewhere. The idea that women would sell their virginity for cash is gross and really shows how little those women feel about themselves. I have no doubt that men with enough money find that exciting. I just couldn't see myself doing that when I was young. Once he got her alone and started teaching/teasing her their attraction really bloomed, but I wasn't happy for that. I wanted her to fight the temptation more than she did. The sex scenes were worth putting that aside though. Mrs. Litton knows how to make even the most taboo scene sensual and sexy. I wasn't as turned on by Odalisque as I was His Lordship but the need was still there. Lucius was more attuned to Natalia's needs than Adrian was to Jane's. I would read more tales from the sex club should she choose to write them. I would like a follow up on both Lucius and Adrian and their women.
